Anthony Record MBE (S, 1956, left) and his wife Carole are involved in and support many charitable endeavours around the world. One such is the Light From Africa Foundation which identifies and then supports the poorest of the poor communities in the Western Cape.
Anthony was recognised and honoured by Bishops for his philanthropy, receiving the Robert Gray Award in 2020. It seemed therefore a good confluence of Bishops, OD and charity streams to host a dinner for ODs and friends for him to share the work of Light From Africa.
The dinner was held on Friday 22nd April at the Carlton Club in London. Anthony spoke about the idea and philosophy behind Light From Africa and then Godfrey Hendrikse and Lynne Roscoe who, together with Almarie Pelser, lead the work for the charity in South Africa, presented in pictures and video the charity in action.
This was not a fundraising event, but it was hoped that over time and with a greater awareness of the work and reach of Light From Africa, UK ODs in particular would consider supporting (and visiting when they are "home") the charity.After a most enjoyable and interesting evening guests left with a gift box, the content of which were crafted by the children who participate in Light From Africa.
