But there is hope for both, mainly in the checks-and-balances both leaders are governed by and with the ANC elections looming large, there is a very real possibility that positive change might be affected as voters react against the excesses of the current regime.

Alex is a formidable and penetrating journalist who communicates easily, succinctly and convincingly. With hindsight, we could have been more generous with the time allotted to him. Hopefully we can persuade him to return.
