Last Sunday, the OD Golf team squared up to avenge last year's defeat at the hands of the Old Tonbridgians at the RAC in Surrey. Playing on the Old Course, Alex Price (c) (M, 2008), Damon Crowhurst (F, 1991), Zandy MacDonald (F, 2007), Doug Mallet (M, 2007). Guy de Freitas (M, 2005), Stephen Suckling (F, 1976), John Wyatt (W, 1961) and Chris Price (F, 2001) acquitted themselves magnificently and ended up winners by 4-0 in the betterball matchplay format.
But more than the result, it was wonderful to meet up again with the Old Tonbridgians under Tony Monteuuis, a good friend and great supporter of the ODU.
An interesting and non-golfing fact about the OTs is that one of their more famous old boys, Sir Herbert Baker, was the architect in charge of the the design of School House, but who never designed anything for his old school, Tonbridge!
